Gateway 2005-06 enrollment - application deadline due to the School no later than January 28, 2005
January 19th, 2005
Wednesday, January 19, 2005 was the final Gateway 2005-2006 enrollment open house seminar.
San Francisco, CA – To assist parents and potential students in navigating the complexities of the SFUSD high school enrollment process, including how to enroll at a public charter school, Gateway High School held its final open house seminar on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 from 6:00-7:30 PM. All Gateway enrollment applications must be submitted to the School no later than January 28, 2005 for its 2005-2006 school year enrollment lottery. This is a separate deadline from SFUSD, which requires all high school applications to be completed and turned in no later than January 15, 2005.
Gateway High School is located at 1350 7th Avenue, between Irving and Judah. The enrollment open house will provide detailed information about Gateway’s award winning program, including the School’s support for students with learning disabilities and differences. The open house will also serve as an opportunity for interested middle school students and their families to have their questions about Gateway and enrollment answered. “Gateway makes it a priority to proactively provide information about our School and its services to assist Bay Area students and families in understanding the choices they have in public schools programs. We hope by doing so we enable parents and students to make an informed decision about the program that best suits their specific needs,” said Gateway Principal Sharon Olken.
In an effort to more broadly publicize the benefits of the Gateway program to as many San Francisco families as possible the School hosted a series of open houses throughout the fall and employs a part-time Director of Enrollment, a position that is unusual for a public high school, to conduct outreach in every San Francisco neighborhood.
Gateway enrollment applications are available at the School’s main office or can be downloaded online at www.gwhs.org. For more information about Gateway’s enrollment process please contact Todd Barringer, Director of Enrollment, at (415) 242-2659 or tbarringer@gwhs.org.
About Gateway High School
Gateway was founded by a group of parents and educators who believed there was a need in the Bay Area for a smaller, personalized, college preparatory public high school with a commitment to and expertise in serving a diverse student population, including a significant number of students with learning differences. Now starting its seventh year of school operations, Gateway is at full enrollment with 440 students in grades 9-12. Gateway has graduated three senior classes, sending students to colleges and universities both near and far. More than 600 students applied for the 100 places in the current 9th grade class. Gateway’s students come from more than 100 different Bay Area middle schools. For more information, contact Margot Shaub at 415-242-2654 ext.16, www.gwhs.org.
