Gateway Boys' Basketball reaches Northern California Finals
March 15th, 2004
San Francisco, CA - Gateway High School Boys' Basketball team made a dramatic post-season run to reach the North Coast Section finals and the Northern California Tournament. The Gators finished the season with a 26-8 record, and a #8 ranking among all California Division V schools.
Gateway entered North Coast as a #7 seed, and proceeded to score dramatic wins against Cloverdale (68-67), at #2 seed Head-Royce (50-36), and in front of approximately 1600 fans, 6.5 hours north at #3 seed Hoopa Valley (53-46).
The Gators then fell to top-seeded Branson (the #2 team in the state) in the NCS final, and to Modesto Christian (the eventual state champion) in the Northern California Championships.
