SFUSD Accolades for Gateway--Reauthorizes the Charter!

Dear Gateway Families and Friends,
Last night, San Francisco Unified School District’s Board of Education voted unanimously to renew Gateway’s charter for the next five years. Gateway students, alumni, parents and staff, many clad in Gateway gear, packed the board room, clearly demonstrating how important Gateway is to our community. In addition, we had a strong panel of speakers, including teachers, parents and students, who offered eloquent and moving public testimony on behalf of our school. Before taking their official vote, each Board of Education Commissioner praised Gateway, especially noting our students’ success, the strength of our community, and Gateway’s focus on preparing all students for college. After each Commissioner voiced his/her support for Gateway, a cheer erupted from the audience. It was a very important night for Gateway, and one that should make us all proud.
Personally, I could not be happier that the hard work, dedication and talent of our students, faculty and staff were so publically and universally praised last night. I am incredibly proud to be part of this school community, and I thank each of you for your support.
