SF Ed Fund honors Gateway Tutor Program for Excellence

June 17th, 2010

In 2010, Gateway was honored as the San Francisco Education Fund’s “School of the Year” due to the strength of our tutoring program.

The Gateway Tutoring program is a unique after-school service for Gateway students who require or request additional support with homework and class work. Tutor Coordinator Joanne Wells and The Learning Center team spend countless hours to organize volunteer tutors and match students one-on-one or in small groups after school until 5:30. Students can also receive tutoring support during the school day. Students can request help in all subject areas.

Gateway’s award winning tutor program serves 2/3 of the student body with 22 parent volunteers, 40 community volunteers, 5 federal work/study students from USF and 2 Gateway alums providing 5000 tutor hours in a school year.

For more information, please contact Ms.Wells at 415-749-3600 x 24.
